IT’S REAL (Part 1)

Peter’s words couldn’t be more relevant, powerful and needed in today’s world. And let’s not forget that he is speaking primarily to the church, reminding them to hold on to The Foundational Truths of the Faith.

Calling upon them to guard their hearts against the attacks that these truths would suffer in increasing measure in the last days.

And again, I want to point out that Peter days this will happen, not only outside the church – which we would expect – but within the church. That is where these thoughts will infiltrate, causing many to question what they believe or to accept a watered down and distorted view of the scriptures.

And that was 2000 years ago, some 35-40 years after the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. How much more do we need these reminders today, following centuries of attack, and in a time in which – since he knows his time is short – the devil has increased his attempts to invalidate Gods words of truth, keeping as many as possible from receiving, believing, and acting upon that truth and leading many more astray from the truth they once believed?

This is the situation to which Peter writes and which I see all to alarmingly taking place today. I watch with angst, the increased skepticism that exists even within the church about basic biblical doctrines. I hear the scoffers call into question, attack and tear down things like

The existence God and Satan
The reality of Heaven and Hell
Eternity
Sin and Evil
The life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus
The saving, transforming power of the Gospel message
Spiritual Warfare
The Last Days
The rapture of the church
The second coming
Final Judgement

And I just want to shout it. IT’S REAL! ALL OF IT IS REAL!!

I know Satan doesn’t want you to believe it. I know the world, friends and even family scoff at it, cast doubt on it, make fun of it, ridicule it and attempt to disprove these truths… BUT THEY ARE REAL!

So, let’s take a moment and go through these things one more time – reminding ourselves of what the Prophets, what Jesus, what the Apostles, what the Early church – taught and believed and what the Bible continues to teach us is 100%, without a doubt, reliable and true.
