PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES
KEY TEXTS: Deuteronomy 19:14; 27:17; Proverbs 15:25; 22:28; 23:10; Job 24:2; Hosea 5:10
Boundary Stones represent what God has established and given us in order to bless us, provide for us and protect us.
Changing them represents disrespect of God’s ways and rebellion against Him
When we move them, we are essentially saying that we are not satisfied with what God has given us… That God didn’t know what He was doing when He set them up… We shouldn’t have to live within the confines of what He has laid out for us… We don’t believe it is enough…
Hosea’s prophecies remind us that God has given us spiritual boundary stones as well. He has given us what is good and right, holy and pure. Changing those boundaries leads us to actions outside of God’s will for us. It says we are not satisfied with what He in His wisdom has provided for us…
It’s no different than what Adam and Eve did in the Garden… They believed the lies of the enemy that said they didn’t have to live within the boundaries of what God had given them. (the fruit of all the trees of the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil)… They deserved to extend those boundaries… because God was holding out on them something that was good and that they would enjoy.
How are we guilty of moving these Boundary Stones?
We move them unwittingly
We move them slowly
We move them secretly
We move them seditiously
