January 9, 2021
For the past year and especially these last 2 months we have struggled with some very difficult and confusing times. A global Pandemic, lockdowns, mandates, shutdowns, job loss, loss of life, civil unrest, riots, lawlessness, economic recession, election madness, and this week Capital Building chaos just to name a few. In the midst of that we have seen National calls to prayer and repentance, countless sermons calling us to faith and action, Christian rallies, calls for patriotism, assurances being given by Christian leaders, Prophetic words (now shown to be false) declaring different outcomes than what we now have etc., etc., etc.
Now, many stand questioning and wondering… What Happened? And What Now?
I want to offer some pastoral words of direction this morning, that may be rejected by some, but which I hope will open our eyes to some difficult truths that I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to those who will have ears to hear.
7 times in the book of Revelation after speaking directly to a particular church Jesus speaks to the church and says “Whoever has ears to hear let him hear.”
The prophet Jeremiah gave a Word from God about Jerusalem that no one wanted to listen to…
Jeremiah 6:6-10
6 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Cut down the trees and build siege ramps against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; it is filled with oppression. 7 As a well pours out its water, so she pours out her wickedness. Violence and destruction resound in her; her sickness and wounds are ever before me. 8 Take warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you and make your land desolate so no one can live in it.” 9 This is what the LORD Almighty says:
10 To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.
