God’s Work In Us
Philippians 1:6 serves as the cornerstone for understanding God’s continuous work in our lives. This sermon explores how God, who began a good work in us, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. This message is a part of the series “Walking in the Light,” which emphasizes living according to the Scriptures.
God’s Masterpiece
Drawing on Ephesians 2:10, the sermon highlights that we are God’s workmanship, His masterpiece. This metaphor is beautifully illustrated in the “God’s Chisel” video, which portrays the transformation process God undertakes in our lives.
The Good Work of Salvation
The sermon emphasizes that the good work God began in us is the work of salvation. This work includes:
- Creation: God’s intention for us to be His children, chosen before the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5).
- Love: An eternal love that knows no beginning or end (Jeremiah 31:3).
- Redemption: Through the incarnation and sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
- Revelation: God revealing Himself and His plan of salvation to us.
Continuing the Work
The sermon encourages believers to have faith that God will continue His work in us, not just at the point of salvation but throughout our lives. This ongoing work includes:
- Increasing our understanding of God’s love for us and our salvation
- Making us more like Himself
- Moving us to BECOME LESS so that He can BECOME MORE.
- Convicting us to close the gap between WHO I SAY I AM (or WHO I’m SUPPOSED TO BE according to Jesus) and WHO I REALLY AM (get rid of hypocrisy)
- Commanding us to LOVE like He loves
- Causing us to BEAR much fruit
- Leading us to LOVE HIM and TRUST HIM with ALL
- Encouraging us to remain faithful through hardships, trials and persecutions
- Calling us to carry on His Mission in this world
Conclusion
The message concludes with a call to action, urging believers to invite God to continue His work in their lives. By trusting in God’s promise to complete His good work in us, as stated in Philippians 1:6, we can live confidently, knowing that we are God’s original masterpiece, created to fulfill His purpose.
