QUESTIONS…
A Study of the book of Job… (Part 1: Is God Even Real?”)
What if we looked at the book of Job as God putting a voice to those questions in order to expose them to His light rather than allow them to sit in the unanswered darkness of our souls?
In this series I would like to address many of those questions and while, like Job, we may not get the exact answers we are looking for; I believe the Holy Spirit will speak to our hearts, reveal His truth and guide us to a place of TRUST in the wisdom and power of our God, His active presence in our lives and His unfathomable love for each and every one of his children
Let’s start with the question that Job’s wife left us with this morning and one that I’m sure we have all considered at one time or another
IS GOD EVEN REAL?
In this thought-provoking message, Pastor David dives into one of the most profound questions believers face: “Is God even real?” He uses the story of Job, a man who faced extreme hardship yet remained steadfast in his faith, to explore this deep question.
Digging into Job’s Story
Pastor David kicks things off with a detailed look at Job 1. Here, Job is introduced as a super wealthy and devout guy. Despite his righteousness, Satan puts Job through the wringer, hoping to shake his faith. This narrative sets the stage for Pastor David to tackle some tough questions that many of us grapple with during hard times: Why does God let bad stuff happen? Is He really there when we need Him?
Wrestling with Tough Questions
The Book of Job is packed with questions that hit home for many of us. Pastor David points out that these questions often mirror our own doubts, especially when life gets rough. Some of the big ones include:
Is God even real?
Why do we suffer?
Why does God let evil happen?
By confronting these questions head-on, Pastor David encourages everyone to dig deep and find clarity through their faith.
Seeing God in the Chaos
A major theme in Pastor David’s talk is recognizing God’s presence even when life feels like it’s falling apart. While Job’s story is often seen as a tale of suffering, Pastor David highlights how it also shows God’s reality and control over everything going on. Job 1 isn’t just about Job’s pain; it’s about God’s involvement and understanding.
Building a Foundation on Faith
Faith is the bedrock for tackling all these tough questions. Without it, pleasing God is out of reach, as Hebrews 11:6 points out. Pastor David urges everyone to hold onto their belief in God’s existence and His bigger plan, even when answers aren’t immediately clear. This faith is what kept Job going and can do the same for us in our own struggles.
A Personal Story
Pastor David shares a powerful personal story about a “Job-like” experience when his son faced a serious health scare. This story shows how real God’s presence is and how He can bring victory out of tough situations. Through personal challenges, Pastor David reaffirms that God’s presence and blessings are always there, backing up the sermon’s main message.
Wrapping It Up
Pastor David wraps up with a challenge: to genuinely seek God and trust that He exists and rewards those who earnestly seek Him. The Book of Job isn’t just about suffering; it’s a mirror reflecting the faith-related questions we all face. By acknowledging these questions and seeking God’s truth, we can find comfort and assurance in His presence.
In a nutshell, Pastor David encourages everyone to look beyond the immediate struggles and see the clear evidence of God’s existence and His active role in our lives. As more questions are tackled in future sermons, Pastor David assures that the Holy Spirit will guide everyone towards a deeper understanding and trust in God’s incredible love and wisdom.
