This past Sunday, Pastor David Filener delivered a heartfelt message as we continued our Advent series with the sermon titled “PEACE: The Shepherd Who Seeks.” As we reflect on the anticipation of Christ’s coming, both past and future, Pastor David reminded us of the peace that Jesus brings into our lives. • The Shepherd Who Seeks – He Comes Looking For Us: Pastor David emphasized the relentless love of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, who seeks out each of us, no matter how far we have wandered. Drawing from Luke 15, he illustrated how Jesus leaves the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep, showing that each of us is uniquely valued and loved by God.

• The Shepherd Who Carries – He Carries Us When We Can’t Walk: In times of weakness or when we feel lost, Jesus carries us close to His heart. Pastor David shared how this act of carrying is not just about protection but also about deepening our relationship with Christ, much like the bond formed between a shepherd and a lamb.

• The Shepherd Who Gathers – He Gathers All Kinds Into One Flock: Jesus unites us into one flock, embracing our differences and calling us to a unity that is rooted in His love. This message encourages us to embrace diversity within our church community as a reflection of God’s inclusive love.

• The Shepherd Who HOLDS CLOSE — He keeps us near His heart When a shepherd carried a sheep, the animal would be positioned right against the shepherd’s chest. It would feel the rhythm of his heartbeat, the warmth of his body, the rise and fall of his breathing. The sheep would know, without any doubt, that it was safe, loved, and valued.

As we journey through Advent, let us embrace the peace and unity that Jesus offers. This week, may we be inspired to seek out those who are lost, offer support to those in need, and celebrate the diverse community we are a part of.
