Just as Gideon was called a “mighty warrior” by the angel of the Lord, we too must recognize our strength in God. This requires a shift in perspective, understanding that God cares for us and has a plan.

3. Ask Questions and Seek God’s Guidance

Gideon’s story illustrates that it’s okay to ask God questions. As seen in Judges 6:36-40, Gideon asked for signs to confirm God’s will. Similarly, we are encouraged to seek divine guidance, as stated in Jeremiah 42:3.

4. Embrace God’s Unique Plan

God’s ways are not ours. Gideon’s army was reduced from 32,000 to 300 men, emphasizing that victory comes from God, not human strength (Judges 7:1-8). Trust in God’s unconventional methods.

5. Listen for the Prophetic Word

During the battle, Gideon received a prophetic word through a dream (Judges 7:9-15). We must remain open to God’s voice, whether through scripture, worship, or the encouragement of others.

6. Acknowledge God’s Role in Victory

The battle cry “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon” highlights the importance of giving God credit for victories. It’s not by our might but by His Spirit that we succeed.

7. Stay Humble and Avoid Pride

After the victory, Gideon was tempted by pride when the Israelites asked him to rule over them. He initially redirected glory to God but later fell into the trap of pride by creating an ephod that became an idol (Judges 8:22-27).

8. Prepare for Future Battles

Remember, today’s victories can lead to tomorrow’s battles. Stay vigilant and continue to apply these principles beyond the immediate conflict.
