Isaiah 5:20, 24 (NIV)
20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
24 …for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One.
Mark 8:31-38 New International Version (NIV)
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
Today I want to close out this series with one more thought about Normalizing Righteousness.
NORMAL ISN’T EASY…
- It’s a confusing world
- You’ll be going against the cultural grain
- You have to take a stand
- You may feel like you’re standing alone
- You will face misunderstanding, ridicule, resentment, hatred and persecution
- You have to change your way of thinking and living
- The Challenges are huge
At first I thought I would speak about abortion a heartbreaking subject. The more I thought about it everyone has to deep down know it’s murder even the courts of our United stated. If a drunk driver kills a pregnant woman he is guilty of her murder and the murder of her unborn baby! But I was really touched about what was said at last Sunday service and would like to speak about “He invites us to partner with Him to make a impact where we are it isn’t difficult and doesn’t need to be complicated. We simply obey and He moves” This is so true and found it so evident in my own neighborhood! A woman who has had a very difficult life has accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior! She says she now prays every day and God has changed her. I know that the people God puts in are life are not a mistake. I also have wonderful conversations now with two other neighbors who have questions and are very receptive. When talking to them I always ask God to give me the words to speak and when to listen.
